This new suite comes in three versions, Premium, Advanced, and Ultimate, for $139.99, $199.99, and $279.99 respectively. It certainly seems the company would rather you choose McAfee+. The point here is that McAfee Total Protection is no longer top dog in the McAfee product line.
However, that price gets you five suite licenses, five VPN licenses with no bandwidth limits, 50GB of online storage for your backups, and LifeLock identity theft protection. At the five-license level, Norton 360 with LifeLock Select costs a bit more, $130.99 per year. Only Panda Dome Complete and Panda Dome Premium, at $106.99 and $166.99 per year, cost more for three licenses. That $89.99 price for a single license is more than just about any competing product, as is the $99.99 price for three licenses.
Since 1982, PCMag has tested and rated thousands of products to help you make better buying decisions. That’s a far cry from the previous offer of $124.99 for unlimited devices. Pricing tops out at $119.99 for five licenses. You can buy a one-device license for $89.99 per year or crank that up to three licenses for $99.99. McAfee has long been known for its unlimited licensing, but as noted, McAfee Total Protection no longer participates. How Much Does McAfee Total Protection Cost? Without that all-devices licensing, and without several features that have been dropped or will be dropped soon, this suite doesn’t bring as much to the table as it once did. McAfee Total Protection used to let you install security on every device in your household, but now that generous licensing is only found in McAfee AntiVirus Plus and the new McAfee+ suite. Even the more inherently secure macOS and iOS devices can’t protect data in transit-they need a VPN, for sure. How many desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones exist in your household? Can you even count them? They all need antivirus protection, especially the PCs and Androids.
